Greetings one and all! So you've joined us, have taken a look around and have begun posting hopefully. But there are a couple of things I imagine you're puzzled about. After all, this is massively different to the previous forum host we utilised, and whilst has many features(including ones we've added ourselves) I'll bet you have scratched your head a couple of times with one or two of them. So first off, registration. This is simple, and there are also a couple of profile fields that can be filled in. Please be aware that whilst our rules are lax, we DO have them. We're very proud of the fact that we've been around for a long time and not had to issue a single genuine warn out. This isn't a hint... When registering, there are no restrictions on characters in your username. You could use capitals, underscores, dashes, slashes, omega signs... if you can at least CnP it you can probably use it. If however you aren't happy with your name, altering it is easy. Simply go to Preferences>Update Profile, and select Change Username. Once you've changed it and clicked OK, an admin then needs to approve it, which should happen within 24 hours. If you decide before it's been approved that you don't like it, go back to the same point as before and click on the option displayed. Next - abilities. You can't delete your own posts, and you can't hide the fact you edited it... in fact, we've stripped a little bit of "power" from you the members, to hopefully encourage you to stay around. Get to 500s posts/12th Seat, and you become an Advanced Member with some extra toys. So editing then? That's slightly different here. You can edit as usual, but now you have the option to leave a reason as to why you made the edit. This is a tool installed for the staff originally, but roleplayers have found this useful to explain the various changes they've made. When editing, under the input window you'll see a Show Reason For Edit? yes [click to change]. Click on it to change it to no, and you won't leave a reason. But - and this is annoying AND important - if you click on Yes and don't actually leave a reason, then there is a chance the post could revert back to its original pre-edit form  You can add Youtube videos to this forum! The BBC code you require is not "Youtube" like it was before, instead it's now "Flash".
The size can be changed to suit. Another feature we've added is an anti-page stretching code: basically no matter how big the image, the forum will resize it to 550 pixels wide if it exceeds this size. To fullview it, simply click on it. Find a post that's bang out of order? Hit the Report button, fill out the small form there, and hit Submit. A notification will then go to the staff who will deal with the problem ASAP. More as it comes. ~Bleached Horizons - home to good times, pork pie and PINGAS. |
